GHACIF AND GHANA
FLOOD VICTIMS : THE STORY. Late September 2007, the GHACIFWEMASTER Kwame Sarpong Dumorine suggested to GHACIF executives to re-act to the plight of Ghanaian compatriots in the northern
region of Ghana who had been rigged off their homes and belongings by rain floods hitting Africa. This same disaster had taken the lives of 400 Ghanaians.
How could GHACIF reject such a "pitiful" request. The response was immediate and this made us appeal for funds on our Website.
Very fortunately 2ATP-MR a transport company manned by Professor Osei Kwasi Richard donated 2000 EUROS immediately and the Press company of Mr. J.K. Kyeremeh promised a 500 Euro donation.
The St. Michael Real Estate Company donated a KLM plane ticket to Ghana and also travel logistics for the delegation to Tamale and the affected villages to make the donation and also meet
and sympathise with the victims.
This made it possible for a delegation to execute the task on the 3/10/2007. The delegation comprised of Nana Yaw Barima ( pictured above left ) a senior journalist at the Ghana Daily Graphic. He
is also the GHACIF REGIONAL CO-ORDINATOR in Ghana, Miss Rose Frimpong GHACIF Co-Ordinating Secretary in Ghana and the GHACIF PRESIDENT Hon. Osei Mensah Michael. Mr. Appiah, Mr. Kwasi Adjei and
Mr. Anane all friends of GHACIF accompanied the delegation to the field.
CUSTOM OFFICERS
IN GHANA VISITS GHACIF WEBSITE. We are surprised and flatered to know that GHACIF WEBSITE is so much visited and appreciated. It is our way of raising high the flag of the Ghanaian
Community in France.
On his arrival in Ghana at the Kotoka Int. Airport, the GHACIF PRESIDENT was overwhelmed by congratulatory comments from custom officers who had seen what Ghanaians in France are doing on our
website.
Below are pictures of our custom officer friends with GHACIF at Kotoka. GHACIF is open to all Ghanaians who appreciate us
AMBASSADORS
OF GHACIF MET GHACIF PRESIDENT. Kwabena BOUR and A.B. Crentsil all GHACIF AMBASSADORS and Stephen Howard GHACIF Liasons officer in GHANA called on the GHACIF PRESIDENT at his
Adenta residence during his stay in GHANA.

Later on the same day an official presentation of certificates of Function were presented to the Ambassadors and all GHACIF officials in Ghana by GHACIF PRESIDENT Hon. Osei Mensah at the Golden
Tulip Hotel in a special ceremony.
We are grateful to media who came to report the occasion.
AT
TAMALE. The delegation arrived at 15HOO in Tamale. We drove straight to the regional co-ordinating office where we were expected.
We were received by Alhaji Mahmoud Alhassan Regional NADMO co-ordinator and his staff. NADMO takes care of victims of natural disaster. He telephoned the Regional Minister Alhaji Mohammed Idriss
who warmly welcomed us to Northern Ghana. He informed us of the meeting he had convened for our cause. All DCE's and some Traditional leaders had been invited to meet and listen to us.
Mr. Appiah our driver after this beautiful interaction with NADMO staff drove us to NYALABA lodge where we stay
stayed for the night.
KAMINA BARRACKS
TAMALE. This military barracks in Tamale sheltered 3 years of the GHACIF PRESIDENT'S infancy. The delegation therefore asked him to go and show them his roots line in the evening of
2/10/07. He accepted with pleasure.
At the entrance of the barracks the guards commander and his colleagues sought for permission from Warrant Officer class 2 Williams who to our surprise was a regular visitor to the GHACIF
WEBSITE. He knew all about GHACIF.
On his authorisation we toured the barracks and visited captain Victor Ahedor's family current occupants of No. 6 Kamina Barracks. That is the bungalow which sheltered GHACIF President's
infancy for 3 years. We are grateful to the soldiers who received us. They have become our friends.
DISTRICT CHIEF
EXECUTIVES MET GHACIF.
At noon onthe 3/10/2007, the district chief executives of the eight districts affected by the rain floods held a meeting with the GHACIF delegation at the Northern Regional Office. This meeting
was convened and chaired by the Regional Minister Hon. Alhaji Idris.
After introductions by the NADMO Director, the regional Minister on behalf of his region and the President of Ghana welcomed the delegation to Tamale and asked for our missive.
In a response, the GHACIF President told the gathering that GHACIF had heard of the the predicaments of fellow Ghanaians in the North of Ghana and had therefore mobilised funds to mitigate their
suffering. He added that GHACIF was first from the diaspora to donate to the NATIONAL HEALTH INSURANCE SCHEME. That day the delegation was in the North to meet, sympathise and distribute the
amount by 100,000 cedis to 230 victims.
Hon. Nabla Sulemana West Mamprusi DCE said that the gesture was the first of it's kind and on behalf of his colleagues expressed gratitudes to GHACIF.
The Regional Minister said he was moved by the gesture. He instructed Hon. Zakaria Yakubu DCE for Gonja central to lead the delegation to the field of the victims to accomplish the
assignment.
ON THE
WAY TO BONYANMU
The journey to Bonyanmu disastered village was very emotive. This could not hide the hunger of our delegation. Unfortunately foodsellers were very rare.
Just accross the Bupe river we saw the first "MANA" in the form of kenkey and Bread. Whilst our men did justice to the food, DCE. ZAKARIA telephned Professor Osei Kwasi Richard in France to
thank him for the big portion of his company's donation.
MANKWA
ZONE
Mankwa Zone is one of the seriously affected areas containing victimized villagers. That is where DCE Zakaria sent us.
Just on our arrival a villager was asked to call the assemblymen of the area. We will never forget the speed run rate at which they went for them.
In a matter of 30 minutes 155 victims had been assembled to meet us. The beauty of their appreciation made us feel what angels in heaven feel.
In a very organised written manner they all received their individual package of 100,000 cedis.
The chiefs and leaders said the money would go a long way to mitigate their sufferig. They also talked on phone to the donors in France.
D.C.E.
WILL DISTRIBUTE 7.5M CEDIS.
Night was falling and we had to return to Kumasi but we wre left with 7.5M for other victims in other disastered areas.
Our host DCE took responsibility to carry out the exercise the following day with his men and report back to us. We insisted to go with him but he told us that the area was muddy and our truck
could easily unpleasantly get stuck there. That plight happened to United Nations reps who visited victims the previous week.
After a short "2MAN", we handed the monies to him. We are grateful for the reception and assistance.
